Longhirst Station opened on the 1st July 1847 and despite its rural location with limited local population to enjoy it a fine sandstone ashlar building now known as “Station House” was provided. Standing on the down platform the structure contained two houses, one for the station master and the other for the porter, linked by a single storey office range with an enclosed veranda to the front.

The station closed to passengers in 1951 and the platforms demolished in 1957 and eventually the station closed completely in 1964, and the property was then turned into a permanent dwelling “Station House”.

This stunning characteristic property has been thoughtfully renovated by the current owners, benefiting from LPG central heating and double glazing throughout and briefly comprising of: Entrance hallway which in the top corner has a perfect space currently used as an office, front lounge, family room which was originally the waiting room, leading to the sun room which used to be the main station platform, dining room, shower room, kitchen and utility room. To the first floor three bedrooms and a family bathroom/WC. To the rear of the property is an enclosed court yard with access to the outhouse which is perfect for storage. To the front entered through gates is the gravelled driveway bordered with mature bushes and shrubs with lawn and patio areas perfect for summer evenings and entertaining.

Viewing is highly recommended of this unique property, the property is located right next to the east coast main line and therefore must be taken into consideration when showing an interest or arranging a viewing.
